Georgia Bids to Host 2014 Winter Olympics

Civil.ge reports that the neighboring Republic of Georgia is bidding to hold the 2014 Olympic Games at resorts in Borjomi and Bakuriani. Seems unlikely but who knows? Would require a lot of investment in order to meet international sporting standards.

Still, if it happened it would reconfirm the republic's status as center of the South Caucasus. The full item can be read here.
